I am such a foodie and I have been eyeing this restaurant for a while now! If you haven’t heard of Donkey Tanqueria well thats okay! Ill tell you all about it. It is located in Grand Rapids, MI off wealthy street. The restaurant has overall a very chill vibe with an indoor and outdoor seating. The inside had a very cool bar area with several spots to sit. We chose to sit out side because it was such beautiful night and we knew we would be there for a while so I wanted to absorb that awesome Michigan air.
We ordered a pitcher of their prickly pear margarita! Which was delicious, I highly recommend it! It was pretty sweet which I really enjoy so if you don’t like sweet you may want to try something else.
Of course we had to get the queso and guac, my two favorite things to try at mexican restaurants, I give them both a 10!! The queso had a little kick to it which I am a fan of. Emily and I ordered some tacos which were super yummy also! All in all I really enjoyed the over all atmosphere, food and service! It is a place that I would recommend to anyone of you in the Grand Rapids area!
On this night I was able to catch up with my friends from the Mitten and it was long overdue. We talked about middle school memories and now what was happening in our lives currently. I truly believe in surrounding yourself with positive people and creatives that inspire you. I hope you all are having a great week <3
Have you ever had a weekend where you get away and it goes by so fast you’re sad its over, but you’re so glad to be home!? Well that was my weekend. I had such a great weekend, where I filmed a beautiful wedding, was able to schedule as mommy and me session with some great people and visit with family and friends! As great and rewarding it was, it is so great to sleep in my own bed and get back into routine and OF COURSE see my hunny.
(For those of you who don’t know I am a photography/ videographer ) So, Lets talk about this wedding I filmed, I really can’t even describe how down to earth it was and how relaxed the bride and groom were! They had a traditional ceremony and a reception to follow, but the way they went about it was so great. The bride complete DIY’d the entire thing. She had several different center pieces under a large tent that was filled with lights, dueling pianos as her music/ dj, a truck bed full of beer, a path way full of lights, random doors decorated with their initials and trees full of decor, vintage couches, lamps and that really doesn’t even do it justice! You’ll just have to follow me on Instagram and my photography FB page to see it when its finished (@mikajadephotography & Mika Jade Photography- FB )
**Being in the wedding industry you sure do see a lot, and I have been so blessed to see such positive sides of it, thanks to my cool clients! So shout out to them <3 **
The day before I left, I got sun poisoning sitting out for 2 hours! I used SPF and everything, obviously it wasn’t the best brand. Lets just say I still am recovering from that and it sure isn’t fun. Aloe & Coconut oil have been my best friend these past couple days. That night I enjoyed some delicious mexican food with some of the coolest gals I know. We sipped on margaritas, ate guac & queso while catching up and sharing laughs. ( Blog post soon to come )
My mom and I drove back to KC yesterday morning at 2:30 am and I have been unpacking all day today and getting Luther back into a routine. It was a quick but long trip and like I said I am so glad to be home! I just realized also that Bachelorette is not on tonight. So looks like some netflix & chill is about to happen! I hope you all enjoy your Monday night and have a great week!
I don’t know about you guys but grilling a fruit with your steak, chicken you name it is always a must! I have been trying to find a balance of every food group when we eat dinner and sometimes fruit to me does not sound appetizing during dinner. So… I found an alternative way to eat fruit. We grilled steaks and seasoned them with McCormick’s, Montreal Steak seasoning. It was the perfect combo the zest with the sweet pineapple flavor! I am such a foodie!
I am just now learning to use a charcoal grill, Andrew showed me how to start it up and get it going last night. I have to say it is a little intimidating. Up next we are going to grill peaches I think 🙂 so stay tuned!!
If you’re grilling out this weekend I recommend you try this! Sometimes I add brown sugar, last night I didn’t thats a good sweet treat!
You guys I have some thick hair and am currently in the process of trying to grow it out so lets just say doing my hair sometimes is not fun! Lately though I have been really getting into styling it more, rather than just curling it or straightening it! I found out that by curling it so often I was damaging my hair so much. Because it’s summer time I know we all like to throw it up or do something simple but yet cute to make a statement! This is been my favorite go to summer hair style. To accomplish those little wave curls I simply used my straightener!
Today my hair still had some curl it in so I am now wearing it in high pony! I don’t wash my hair that often… I know it sounds gross but I notice my hair way healthier after 3-4 days not washing it! I use a really awesome Dry shampoo I shared with you guys a few posts ago! I know some of you are thinking well does she shower?! OF COURSE! I just put my hair is a cute cap and do my thang! ( I follow plenty of other bloggers/ friends that also don’t clean their hair for a lot longer )
I am thinking about starting some tutorials on hair and just simply sharing more videos on my blog! What do y’all think?! Let me know what you want to see!!
