Happy Monday! Who is ready for the 4th! I sure am, nothing I love more than celebrating Independence Day surround by the ones I love. I also am obsessing over the striped dress from Zara!! It is currently sold out, such a bummer! But it is so light weight, and you can dress it up or dress it down! You’ll catch me wearing it this weekend!
Where has this month gone? I am amazed by how fast it is going by! I have some traveling plans coming up this month and in August that will make it go by even faster. I am trying to absorb every moment of this summer I can. But is it bad to say I am a lover of Fall?! <3
This weekend was so fun but yet so busy! Friday night we went out to dinner with some of our friends to II Lazzarone located near the River Markey. I have been wanting to go to this spot for a while and finally went, it was scrumptious. I love me authentic pizza. Saturday night we went to go watch our friend play Baseball for the T-bones. It was hot and sticky out but I scored a yummy corn dog. I told y’all I was a foodie! We wrapped the weekend up with a lazy Sunday but much needed!
Tonight I have some dinner in the crockpot, a yummy chicken salsa recipe and of course watching the bachelorette tonight! Who else is a sucker for that show?! I got drew to start watching it with me when we started dating and now he is hooked! Have a great night!
Happy Hump Day! Yesterday Andrew and I went out to dinner @ the MIXX and hung out with some of our friends. Adjusting to working from home has been putting me in a funk and so getting out and having coffee and meeting with other creatives and of course visiting my nephew blake and sisters has been keeping me sane. Luther turned 4 months old today! Which is so crazy to me, he finally went down the stairs yesterday guys! And then got sick due to us bribing him to go down with treats, poor thing. But hey he now goes down them no problem!! Today I am editing, making calls and preparing some outfits for a session tomorrow with a friend who takes fabulous photos <3 Below is a fun video I put together of Mr. Luther Nash Enjoy!
I am such a foodie and I have been eyeing this restaurant for a while now! If you haven’t heard of Donkey Tanqueria well thats okay! Ill tell you all about it. It is located in Grand Rapids, MI off wealthy street. The restaurant has overall a very chill vibe with an indoor and outdoor seating. The inside had a very cool bar area with several spots to sit. We chose to sit out side because it was such beautiful night and we knew we would be there for a while so I wanted to absorb that awesome Michigan air.
We ordered a pitcher of their prickly pear margarita! Which was delicious, I highly recommend it! It was pretty sweet which I really enjoy so if you don’t like sweet you may want to try something else.
Of course we had to get the queso and guac, my two favorite things to try at mexican restaurants, I give them both a 10!! The queso had a little kick to it which I am a fan of. Emily and I ordered some tacos which were super yummy also! All in all I really enjoyed the over all atmosphere, food and service! It is a place that I would recommend to anyone of you in the Grand Rapids area!
On this night I was able to catch up with my friends from the Mitten and it was long overdue. We talked about middle school memories and now what was happening in our lives currently. I truly believe in surrounding yourself with positive people and creatives that inspire you. I hope you all are having a great week <3
Have you ever had a weekend where you get away and it goes by so fast you’re sad its over, but you’re so glad to be home!? Well that was my weekend. I had such a great weekend, where I filmed a beautiful wedding, was able to schedule as mommy and me session with some great people and visit with family and friends! As great and rewarding it was, it is so great to sleep in my own bed and get back into routine and OF COURSE see my hunny.
(For those of you who don’t know I am a photography/ videographer ) So, Lets talk about this wedding I filmed, I really can’t even describe how down to earth it was and how relaxed the bride and groom were! They had a traditional ceremony and a reception to follow, but the way they went about it was so great. The bride complete DIY’d the entire thing. She had several different center pieces under a large tent that was filled with lights, dueling pianos as her music/ dj, a truck bed full of beer, a path way full of lights, random doors decorated with their initials and trees full of decor, vintage couches, lamps and that really doesn’t even do it justice! You’ll just have to follow me on Instagram and my photography FB page to see it when its finished (@mikajadephotography & Mika Jade Photography- FB )
**Being in the wedding industry you sure do see a lot, and I have been so blessed to see such positive sides of it, thanks to my cool clients! So shout out to them <3 **
The day before I left, I got sun poisoning sitting out for 2 hours! I used SPF and everything, obviously it wasn’t the best brand. Lets just say I still am recovering from that and it sure isn’t fun. Aloe & Coconut oil have been my best friend these past couple days. That night I enjoyed some delicious mexican food with some of the coolest gals I know. We sipped on margaritas, ate guac & queso while catching up and sharing laughs. ( Blog post soon to come )
My mom and I drove back to KC yesterday morning at 2:30 am and I have been unpacking all day today and getting Luther back into a routine. It was a quick but long trip and like I said I am so glad to be home! I just realized also that Bachelorette is not on tonight. So looks like some netflix & chill is about to happen! I hope you all enjoy your Monday night and have a great week!
