We have a heatwave coming our way and the news is saying the heat index is going to be 110 degrees. PHEW- so let’s cool down together with this Skinny Marg Recipe!
There’s no denying it that I am a tequila girl- so give me all the margaritas (and queso) and I am one happy gal. We had a dinner party a couple of months back and I was told there would be margaritas involved but little did I know they would be “skinny margs.” I have heard of that phrase but never had really indulged in a skinny marg- so I thought why not!
What makes them skinny? Tequila and water, okay and maybe some simple syrup… but really that is it!
What you will need to make a Skinny Margarita:
Tequila (Jose Cuervo Especial- Blue Agave)
Agave Simple Syrup (Found at your local store- target, hyvee, aldi)
Step 1: Fill your cup with ice and 1 shot of tequila (or let’s be honest, you can add a shot or 2!)
Step 2: Add your Agave simple syrup desired amount- start with less and add more at the end if need be. (Found at Aldi, Hyvee, Target)
Step 3: Cut a lime in half.
Step 4: Squeeze lime over ice, tequila and simple syrup. Stir and you have yourself a skinny marg!
I hope y’all had a great Easter weekend! I have been trying very hard to set a shopping limit for myself monthly and that includes finding good deals. When I spot good savings I always want to share with you guys.
When was the last time you shopped at Abercrombie and Fitch? I can’t tell you the last time I shopped there or walked in their store… but as of lately I have had my eyes on some trendy layering pieces for this Spring. Everything online is currently 50% and today is the last day! I am sharing with you guys what I got from this awesome sale.
Words really cannot describe what a journey my blog has taken me on! If you’re recently just now following me on my journey, welcome!
How fun in this purple wall <3
I have never really been into big earrings, but these earrings changed that game for me. How gorgeous are these?
(It was really windy FYI so you’ll see that the balloon was backwards majority of the time)
Where do I even begin. First off I am so thankful for my followers and fashionistas that have supported me along this crazy road.
When I realized I wanted to start a blog I never really understood what I was getting myself into. Not only the investment but the time and effort it really takes. This has all really been a learning curve for me and Andrew. He has been my right hand man when it comes to what goes on behind the scenes for Layers and Lipstick. So shout out to Andrew! Thanks babe!
My blog really has taught me a lot about myself, the good and the bad. Putting myself out there has been hard for me this year, but that is one goal this next year for my blog to really be transparent with you all about the day- to- day life of Mika Jade.
I have some big plans for Layers and Lipstick this year! Thank you so much to all whom support me and this fun adventure.
How adorable and fun are these photos from our pie date. My good/talented friend Brooke from Nomadic Newlyweds. Just in time for Valentines Day tomorrow. I have to admit I have been missing for quit some time lately. A little life update below these fun photos <3
How adorable is this little pie shop?! Hands down best pie I have ever ate, and they come in different sizes and flavors. It was a blast working with Brooke, she made us so comfortable.
We just got back from Michigan yesterday afternoon, and I am still exhausted. We went back home to have Andrew’s family Christmas party. I have yet to unpack and have no desire to… is that bad?! LOL It is always nice to go back home, but to be back in your own bed and get back in a routine. That will never get old. Our house is a mess, everything is everywhere and needs to be picked up. My to-do list is so long right now I have a headache, literally from even thinking about it.
I got a new job, yes a new job. I believe that I am to young to just settle. Don’t get me wrong my last job was a great job to have and I loved everyone there! It personally was not for me and I am glad I realized it early on rather then trying to force myself to doing something I did not feel was my calling. I am now working for an Advertising Agency and love it! Not only is it a fun learning curve, but the overall the people and atmosphere is a breathe of fresh air.
With having a new job, I have became very busy and haven’t had time to update my blog as often as I want. Adjusting to this lifestyle is something I am still trying to figure out. Adulting is a continuous thing as I am sure we are learning.
Our Home: Our house is coming together slowly but surely. On our trip to Michigan I stopped at my new favorite store The Found Cottage and snagged some fun items.
Luther: Luther just got his actual first big boy hair cut, like I do not recognize him. I cannot believe he turns one the twenty first of this month. Where has time gone?!
I would love to hear what you guys want to see more, know more of for me to share on my blog! Let me know your thoughts please 🙂
I am about to stuff my face with left over Thai food and catch up on all our shows 🙂 Have a good night!
