Planning a wedding can be stressful and I understand this, but I really have enjoyed these beginning stages. My biggest goal through this process is to make it fun, organized and include Andrew as much as possible. We set our date and secured a venue! Phew what a weight off our shoulders. I feel like those are the two biggest items to get the ball rolling. 2 weeks after our engagement I started the process of looking at dates and venues. It was important for us to enjoy our engagement moment with family and friends before we started this process.
What we have booked so far:
WEDDING DATE 10.22.21
VENU: Dorr E Felt Mansion
PHOTOGRAPHER Jill Caren Stuefer
VIDEOGRAPHER Lindsey Leigh Media
DAY OF COORDINATOR – 7th On Lincoln
BOOZE Punch Bar
PHOTO BOOTH BOX 6.23
DESSERT GRAND TRAVERSE PIE COMPANY
How we chose our date:
When we started looking at all things, my first step was emailing our photographer Jill who captured our proposal. I really wanted to see what dates she had still available for 2021 before moving forward with anyone else.I knew on top of all things with Covid that her dates would be slim, Jill had August 27th and October 22nd left. Andrew and I have always talked about a Fall wedding, so after we chatted we decided that we liked the date October 22nd. Once we picked the date I did research on venues that I adored.
Why we chose to have a destination wedding:
When choosing Michigan for our wedding we knew that a majority of Andrew’s family was there and my family in Kansas and our friends in Kansas will hopefully travel. Andrew was born and raised in Michigan and I was born in KC and raised in Michigan as well. A part of me has always wanted a destination wedding so the more we had conversations between Kansas and Michigan our hearts were drawn to Michigan. After looking at our options we knew that Michigan would be the perfect place. Social media is a great way to find venues and all things wedding. We found our venue through social media photos and after doing research I fell in love.
VENUE EXCLUSIVE VENDORS:
Our venue has exclusive vendors for linens, bulk decor, food caterers and liquor so that has made it very easy for us to narrow things down. When searching through them I first emailed the ones we were most interested in for quotes. Most of the vendors just need your head count, date and venue to give you a basic quote. All of the vendors come highly recommended so we know we are in good hands there.
VENDOR SEARCH:
Our process has been seamless and we are ahead of scheduled looking for the other vendors so I am really not stressed about that. Our main ones we need to focus on next are our florals, which I have been in contact with my idea florist and then a DJ!
Again, we have really been enjoying this process as an engaged couple! My biggest advice is just enjoy this time, everything will fall into place.
xoxo
